It is with great pleasure that we officially announce the winning chair for our “Design a Chair” Contest held this past summer in conjunction with Modeling wizards, Consult.
Picking a Winner was not easy, we recieved close to 100 submissions. Some were sketches, some were full 3d printer ready files, some gave multiple submissions. All were good, some were great, and after everything was considered, the winner is….Simon Harker.

Simon is a 24 year old from the United Kingdom, currently living and studying in Copenhagen, Denmark. and studying for his Masters in Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of fine Arts School of Architecture in the department of Architecture, design and industrial form. He also holds an undergrad degree an MEng in Structural Engineering and Architecture from the University of Sheffield UK. His interest in design is therefore broad but has developed to focus on detail, construction and manufacture.

Simon’s entry to the contest came from studying chair design as part of my Masters in Architecture.The course and program was an intensive exploration into chair design and manufacture, constructing numerous models and 6 full scale studies at an initial pace of one chair a week. Throughout the course he experimented with different materials, scales and means of production, ranging from hand shaping to rapid prototyping 3D printing.
